What is Counselling?

Counselling is ultimately an investment in yourself — in your wellbeing, growth, and peace of mind. You don’t have to go through things alone. With the right support, change is possible.
Counselling uses the relationship between the counsellor and the client to help the client. This is why choosing the right counsellor for you is so important. It is okay to speak to a counsellor and feel that you don’t quite click and look for someone else. Not every counsellor can help every client, and you will get more benefit from a counsellor you feel comfortable with.
I trained as an integrative counsellor, which means that I learned about different ways of counselling, such as humanistic, existential, gestalt and psychodynamic. The method I am most drawn to is person-centred counselling. This means that I trust my client to be the expert on themselves. I will provide a nurturing and safe space where you can find your own solutions to problems. I may draw on other methods but will always remain person-centred in my approach.
